COMMUNICATING WITH CONFIDENCE
(College of Arts & Sciences students and families only – registration required)
The ability to express oneself clearly and effectively is essential to success in any field and is a hallmark of civic engagement. The College provides CWiC undergraduate advisors who conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with students and facilitate workshops. During this session, advisors will provide a sample of a CWiC workshop. CWiC is a Weigle Information Commons Program Partner. See more about CWiC. -
INSIDE THE FIRST-YEAR SEMINAR
Join us for an insightful preview of the transformative work ongoing in Penn first-year seminars. Several Penn faculty provide a look inside how their Spring 2025 seminars foster critical thinking, encourage dialogue across difference, and provide an environment for new students to explore a wide range of disciplines. Hear how these foundational courses are an entry point to discovery and the gateway for academic success and scholarly growth at Penn.

Box lunches will be available to purchase in advance for $10; however, you do not need to purchase a lunch to attend any of the sessions below.

NAVIGATING PENN'S ACADEMIC SUPPORT RESOURCES
(College of Arts & Sciences students and families only – registration required)
Families will be introduced to the various academic resources available to students. They will learn about the role of academic advisors, the advising process, and how academic advisors help students identify and utilize these resources to support their academic success. We will discuss the importance of regular advising meetings and how parents can encourage their students to take advantage of this essential resource. -
ACADEMIC PLANNING FOR PENN AND BEYOND: HOW THE ARTS & SCIENCES SUPPORT YOUR STUDENT'S POST-PENN LIFE
This discussion station will focus on the importance of understanding degree requirements and effective academic planning. Families will learn how academic advisors assist students in selecting courses, planning their academic trajectory, and staying on track for graduation. We will also cover how advisors help students explore majors and minors that support their interests and career goals.

PARTNERING WITH ACADEMIC ADVISING FOR STUDENT SUCCESS & WELL-BEING
How can parents effectively partner with academic advising to support their student’s academic journey? Families will learn about how academic advisors connect students to academic and wellness resources and how families can reinforce the importance of seeking support when needed. We will also share tips on how families can maintain open communication with their students about their academic progress and well-being.
