All students are welcome and encouraged to speak with a member of the advising staff in the College Office. These advisors can help students explore the many options and opportunities available to College students, and are available by email appointment throughout the year.

Dr. Carolyn Ureña

Director of Academic Advising

Dr. Ureña holds an M.A. in English from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Rutgers University. Her research interests include decolonial theory, the medical humanities, disability studies, and the lived experience of race and coloniality.

Dr. Jason Breyan

Assistant Dean for Advising

Dr. Breyan holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Emory University and his research interests are in film, war trauma, cultural history and popular culture. He has developed and taught courses on American identity as well as leadership in higher education.

Dr. Janice Curington

Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs and Advising

Dr. Curington holds an M.A. in English from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania, with a focus in educational anthropology.

Dr. Christopher Donovan

Dr. Donovan  holds a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Contemporary American Literature from New York University. He currently teaches courses in the department of Cinema and Media Studies

Dr. Hocine Fetni

Dr. Fetni holds an LL.M. from New York University, and a LL.M. as well as a Ph.D. in International Relations from Penn. As a member of the Sociology Department faculty, he has developed courses on topics such as law and society, law in Africa, law and social change, and the sociology of the legal profession. He also teaches international law and the theory of international relations.

Dr. Srilata Gangulee holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University and is particularly interested in welfare economics. She has developed and teaches courses for Asian American Studies and South Asia Studies.

Dr. Jung holds an M.A in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Maryland. Her research interests include the cultural biography of images and she currently teaches courses in the History of Art department and the Visual Studies program.

Dr. McDowell holds his Ph.D. in German from the University of Pennsylvania and has research interests in late medieval and early modern medical history and popular culture.

Dr. Paletta holds his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. His teaching and research interests include social contract theory, the significance of choice, and competing notions of equality.

Dr. Pansing holds a Ph.D. from Brown University in English Literature and his research and teaching interests include addiction, aesthetics, criminality, and popular fiction in British modernism.

Assistant Dean for Advising

Dr. Poyourow holds her Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan. Her background is in U.S. social and cultural history with a focus on women, work, and class. Her research is on the socialization of working-class youth and the creation of class identity through participation in organized leisure activities during the early twentieth century.

Kaitlin is a member of the CaseNet academic support team that assists students experiencing difficulties that impact their academic experience. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Dickinson College and a M.Ed. in Counseling from the College of William & Mary.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Vassar College, an M.S.Ed. in Counseling and Psychological Services and an M.Phil. in Professional Counseling from The Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania.
