Penn Arts & Sciences College Alumni Mentoring Series (CAMS) and the Data-Driven Discovery Initiative (DDDI) are excited to present a career mentorship event focused on Data Science Careers. Students will have the opportunity to explore the wide variety of data-driven careers across an array of industries and hear directly from experts on their professional experiences.  There will be an opportunity for Q&A following the moderated discussion. Dinner will be included at the event. 

Panelists:

Randall Winn PAR’28 - Co-Founder & Managing Partner, 22C Capital: 22C, is a minority “special forces” partner delivering equity capital, strategic guidance, tactical mentorship, and operational resources to B2B data analytics and information & business services companies.  Prior to 22C, Mr. Winn was Founder and Managing Principal of FiveW Capital, which had the same strategy as 22C but operated on a deal-by-deal basis.  Prior to FiveW, Mr. Winn co-founded Capital IQ and served as its CEO / Executive Managing Director. He helped grow the company to more than $450M of revenue and 5,500+ employees, including executing seven successful acquisitions / integrations. Prior to Capital IQ, he was a Principal at SKM, a firm that focused on recapitalizations of family-run businesses. Prior to SKM, he served at Goldman Sachs in the Principal Investment Area and in Corporate Finance. Currently, he serves in Board roles at ZoomInfo (NASDAQ:ZI), Aurora Energy Research, LMI, DataSite, RevSpring and Canoe Intelligence. Previously, he served as Chairman of Dealogic and Director of Definitive Healthcare (NASDAQ:DH), Viteos, and Meritsoft. Mr. Winn is a major supporter and board member of Sapien Labs, a non-profit that has assembled the largest global dataset on mental wellbeing focused on exposing and addressing the causes of the global mental health crisis.  Mr. Winn holds an AB from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.

Eric Edell C99, WG08 - Co-Founder & Managing Partner, 22C Capital: 22C is a private investment firm committed to delivering capital and critical resources to companies operating at the intersection of technology enablement and data analytics adoption. 22C partners with world-class management teams to build companies that are leaders in their respective markets. The firm's operational and technology resources deliver practical, real-world support to help convert businesses' challenges into opportunities and unlock their full potential. Prior to launching 22C, Mr. Edell was a Managing Director at Starr Investment Holdings, a multi-billion-dollar investment adviser that invests in privately held services businesses in industries such as healthcare, financial services, and consumer. Before joining Starr, Mr. Edell was a senior investment professional at The Carlyle Group, where he was a member of the U.S. buyout team investing the firm's flagship Carlyle Partners funds, with a focus on healthcare. Additionally, Mr. Edell, reporting directly to Carlyle's co-founder, worked on firm-wide strategy and business development. In this capacity, he evaluated and launched several new investment programs, as well as helped facilitate Carlyle's entry into new geographic regions. He was also an investment professional at Spectrum Equity Investors, a private equity firm focused on the communications and media sectors. Mr. Edell started his career at Goldman Sachs' Private Equity Group. At Goldman, his principal activity was the establishment and investment of the Goldman Sachs Vintage Fund, the firm's inaugural secondary investment fund. Currently, he serves in a Board role at Accuity Delivery Systems, LMI, and Inovalon. Mr. Edell received his B.A. in Neuroscience, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Josh Wilson - President, LMI Solutions: The company brings deep expertise in digital and analytic solutions, logistics, and management advisory services to all types of government stakeholders, including federal civilian agencies and military commands. Josh has direct oversight over LMI’s entire customer portfolio and leads LMI’s business growth function. He also oversees LMI’s research and development programs. Josh previously served as LMI’s executive vice president of service lines and technology. Prior to joining LMI, Josh was a U.S. Army officer, serving two overseas tours focused on infrastructure reconstruction efforts in Iraq. He later joined Deloitte’s public-sector practice, where he specialized in analytics-driven business model transformation and strategic planning engagements.  Josh holds a bachelor’s in systems engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s in engineering management from Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Andrew Bocskocsky - Co-Founder & CEO, Grata the leading private market dealmaking platform. With over 700 customers across private equity, investment banking, management consulting, and corporate development, Grata is the go-to solution for sourcing, researching, and marketing M&A deals.Before Grata, Andrew founded Gramercy 360, a technology consulting, strategy and development firm specializing in architecting cloud-based platforms, machine learning and analytical systems. He has also held engineering and analyst roles at Palantir and Endurance. Andrew holds a BA in Economics and Computer Science from Harvard University.

Henry Schmandt C’20 - Nodal Lead, Aurora Energy Research: Henry leads nodal pricing and grid research for North American markets at Aurora Energy Research.  Aurora Energy Research is a leading global provider of independent, data-driven analysis to underpin the global energy transformation, with 1000+ experts in 16 offices around the world. Aurora helps customers to inform strategic decision-making, better allocate capital, design policy, invest in new power generation, assess risk, and navigate the energy transition more broadly. In his role Henry focuses on analysis of generation interconnections, planned transmission projects, and their combined effects on congestion trends and locational marginal pricing (LMP) across ISOs / RTOs.  His analysis has helped underwrite projects for over a dozen project finance and tax equity banks and has supported over $3bn in financings.  Henry earned a B.A. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.
