Becoming a MAP Advisor
Students interested in serving as MAP advisors should visit the website (Pennkey
required) and fill out an application. An endorsement from the undergraduate
chair or program director in the student's department (in the form of a short
email) is required. Once the endorsement is received, the student will become
an active MAP advisor.
Why be a MAP advisor?

- • To help fellow students by sharing experience and knowledge,
- • To meet people with similar interests.
What questions might be asked of a MAP advisor?
- • Why did you choose your major?
- • What do you like most/least about your major?
- • Are there any classes/professors you would recommend?
- • What kind of skills and content knowledge do you acquire through this major?
- • How demanding is this major?
- • Is the work mainly reading, papers, exams, lab work, problem solving...?
- • Department specific information (contacts, resources, faculty)
