The College Alumni Mentoring Series engages College students and alumni in mentoring relationships to help students determine how their current academic paths coincide with career aspirations. The series is composed of three types of events that help to facilitate students’ understanding of life beyond Penn:

Mr. Michael Gordon Throughout his career Michael has worked with leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Currently he is the principal of Group Gordon, a strategic communications and public relations firm with offices in New York and Connecticut. Michael has been active in Democratic politics for more than 15 years. He served in both terms of the Clinton Administration. During the second term he was spokesperson for Attorney General Janet Reno, handling such matters as the Microsoft antitrust litigation, judicial appointments and environmental crimes. In the first term Michael was a special assistant on education policy, working on the national student loan program and safe and drug-free schools. Michael has consulted for many leading financial institutions, including Citibank, Tilson Funds, FGI Finance and Capital Z Investment Partners. He's also worked with many leading brands, including Motorola, AOL and the New York Times Company. Through his firm's public interest practice, Michael's work has touched many points in the domestic policy spectrum. His clients include the MacArthur Foundation, Casey Family Programs, Acumen Fund and Enterprise Communities, and he has worked on issues involving health care, foster care, housing, nutrition, campaign finance reform and education. Michael received his BA with honors from Penn, where he served as student body president and was awarded the Spoon, the school's highest undergraduate honor. A former finance attorney at Skadden, Arps, Michael earned his JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a Dean's List student.

Mr. Rich Ross Rich Ross is President, Disney Channels Worldwide, which is part of the Disney ABC Television Group, a division of The Walt Disney Company. Ross manages the Company's successful and burgeoning global kids' TV business, a total of 67 channels and/or feeds around the world, including 27 Disney Channels, nine Toon Disney channels, 10 Playhouse Disney channels and 19 Jetix channels, which in total reach more than 600 million viewers in over 100 countries in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and South Africa. Ross also has responsibility for Radio Disney Network which, over the past decade, has set the radio industry standard for kid and family content. Throughout his career, Ross has held senior level positions in all facets of cable television. Prior to his tenure at Disney Channels Worldwide, he was Senior Vice President, Development and Production for FX Networks from 1993-96, where he was a member of the executive team that launched the cable network. Before joining FX Networks, Ross was at Nickelodeon from 1986-93, where he most recently served as Vice President of Program Enterprises and was involved in all original-programming deals, including those for co-production. Ross is a member of the Board of Directors for Hollywood Radio Television Society (HRTS) and Cable in the Classroom, an organization that represents the cable telecommunications industry's commitment to education -- to improve teaching and learning for children in schools, at home and in their communities. A native of New York and a 1983 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and English, Ross received his J.D. degree from New York's Fordham University in 1986. He is based in Burbank, California, at the headquarters of Disney Channels Worldwide. |

Mr. Ron Moelis Ron Moelis is a principal of L&M Equity Participants, Ltd., a New York real estate development company, specializing in the financing and development of affordable housing in the New York City metropolitan area. L&M Equity has developed over 6,000 units of affordable housing and over 250,000 feet of retail space in the New York metropolitan area. Ron is also a principal in L&M Builders LLC, a construction company, operating in the same area. Mr. Moelis participates heavily in the community by serving on a number of professional and non-profit boards, including the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania and the Board of Trustees of the Rye Country Day School. Ron attended undergraduate school at the University of Pennsylvania where he received both a B.A. in history from the College of Arts and Sciences and a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School. He then received a J.D. from New York University and spent a year as law clerk for the Honorable Stanley Brotman of the Federal District Court in New Jersey. |

Mr. Bob Michele Mr. Michele is the Global Head of Fixed Income, based in London, having been relocated to London for the position in 2001. His responsibilities include overseeing the fixed income businesses and strategies in all regions. Initially Head of North American Fixed Income based in New York, Mr. Michele joined Schroders in 1998. In 1995 he joined BlackRock Inc., where he was a Managing Director, responsible for their U.S. core bond portfolios. From 1993 to 1995 he was a Director and Head of Fixed Income investments with CS First Boston Investment Management Corp. In 1985 moved to Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. where he served as deputy manager and senior portfolio manager. Investment career commenced in 1981 when he joined Bankers Trust Company as an investment associate. Mr. Michele is a CFA charterholder, and earned his BA in Classical Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. |

Careers in Politics and Government Politics is what everyone is talking about this year. This panel will feature College alumni from many levels and areas of politics and government.
