Graduation Checklist for the Class of 2009 and Earlier

 
The checklist below can be useful in preparing for graduation, but is not intended to take the place of a thorough review of the worksheet and transcript with an academic advisor. Check the timelines for May, December or August graduation to insure that all requirements are met on time.
 

Total Credit Units Required for Graduation

CU required for the major + 20 CU outside the major = Total number of CU required for graduation

 
  • • The total number of CU required for graduation ranges from 32 and 36 depending on the major.
  • • Students completing more than one major base the number of CU required for graduation on the major that requires the higher number of CU.
  • Majors that require more than 16 CU need fewer CU outside the major.
  • • After all cu for the major are counted, at least 16 additional cu of College courses were taken. (i.e., not courses from Wharton, Fine Arts, etc.)
The College General Requirement
Consult with an assistant dean in the College Office to confirm that all College General Requirements have been met, including:
 
  • Writing
  • Quantitative Data Analysis
  • Formal Reasoning and Analysis
  •  
  • Foreign Language
  • Sector Requirements
  • Confirm that the Major(s) and Minor(s) are:

    Major(s)

     

     

     

     

    The department has been notified of expected graduation.

    If any course counted toward the major was taken pass/fail, the letter grades will be uncovered before graduation.

    At least a 2.0 g.p.a. was maintained in the major (some require higher).

    Consult with the major advisor(s) to confirm that all requirements have been met.

    Minor(s)

    The department has been notified of expected graduation.

    If any course counted toward the minor was taken pass/fail, the letter grades will be uncovered before graduation.

    Consult with the advisor(s) for the minor to confirm that all requirements have been met.

    Additional Requirements

     

     

     

    Students must maintain a 2.0 overall grade point average.

     

    No AP credit was counted for courses re-taken at Penn?

     

    The residency requirement has been met.

     

    Application for Graduation is completed.

      No I’s, II’s, S’s, GR’s, or NR are on the transcript.   All grades are posted.

     

    All obligations are met, i.e., Student Financial Services, library, etc.

     

     

     

    Graduation Ceremonies

     

     

     

    Follow all instructions for participation in the College Graduation Ceremony.
