Dr. Poyourow received her Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan.  Her background is in U.S. social and cultural history with a focus on women, work, and class.  Her research is on the socialization of working-class youth and the creation of class identity through participation in organized leisure activities during the early twentieth century.
