The Van Pelt Dietrich Library Center includes several world-class facilities. Highlights include the newly opened Special Collections Center, the Weigle Information Commons (a joint venture with the School of Arts and Sciences and the Office of the Provost) and the Music Library. From ancient manuscripts to modern multimedia, the library contains many treasures.

This interactive workshop will apply Da Vinci’s seven principles to academic reading, studying, and thinking. Presented by the Weingarten Learning Resources Center (VPUL), a Weigle Information Commons Program Partner, this workshop also provides an introduction to resources for learning and academic support at Penn.
GOOGLE PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS 1:30 – 2:30 pm and 3:00-4:00 pm

We will provide a guided tour of how power users take full advantage of free tools for improving daily efficiency – such as Google Docs, Google Alerts, Google Scholar and Google Calendar. These tools involve “cloud computing,” where your data is accessible from anywhere via the web. This is not a hands-on workshop but we will answer questions hands-on immediately following each session. No prior experience needed.
STORYCORPS WIC STYLE - FAMILY VIDEO INTERVIEWS 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Register for a 15-minute video interview appointment. Talk with your family about important milestones and record video of your conversation on a DVD that you take home with you. Hold on to Family Weekend memories for years to come! Evocative question lists will be provided.

Join us for a showing of student created "mashup" films and a discussion of how video creation is becoming a common assignment medium for many undergraduate courses. We will show clips from winning entries of annual mashup contests from several years.
