When considering submatriculation, students should be in a position to complete most of their undergraduate degree requirements by the end of the seventh semester. If accepted into a submatriculation program, they will most likely spend most or all of the senior year taking graduate level courses under an approved course plan. Submatriculation usually enables a student to take graduate courses while still an undergraduate, thereby condensing the total number of years normally required to complete the undergraduate and graduate degrees combined.

Submatriculation

The submatriculation program allows students in the College to obtain both a baccalaureate degree and a master's degree simultaneously.

College students may submatriculate into many graduate programs in:

  • • School of Arts and Sciences
  • • Graduate School of Education
  • • School of Design
  • • School of Medicine (PhD only)
  • • Fels Program in Government Administration
  • • School of Veterinary Medicine
  • • Law School
  • • School of Engineering (Biotechnology)
  • • School of Social Policy and Practice
  • • School of Dental Medicine (A few students enter the College as bio-dental submatriculants with a major in biology in the College, going into the School of Dental Medicine after completing the necessary requirements in three years.)
