Green Jobs

One of the industries everyone seems to be talking about lately is “Green Jobs”. There is tremendous opportunity for growth, but what is meant by “Green Jobs” and who has them? A panel of College alumni from many backgrounds will be on campus to discuss their green jobs and share insights on where the industry is moving. College students from all academic backgrounds are welcome to attend, since one thing we do know is that green jobs will require creative, analytical, and multi-faceted perspectives to address global climate issues.

Panelists:
Blaine Collison (College Major: Political Science) Program Manager, US Environmental Protection Agency
Peter Dailey (College Major: English) Chairman, President and CEO, International Electric Power
Andrew Glantz (College Major: History) Analyst, GreenOrder
Sarah-Jane Littleford (College Majors; Environmental Studies and Individualized Major) University of Pennsylvania, Carbon Reduction and American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment Liaison Intern

Ms. Elizabeth Schlesinger
Director, W.P. Carey & Company, LLC
College Major: History

Ms. Raun Schlesinger graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with a degree in History from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999 and received her MBA from Harvard Business School in 2005. Ms. Raun Schlesinger joined the Investment Department at WP Carey in 2005. In late 2006, she joined the self-storage team, helping to create W.P. Carey’s first self storage investment platform. She currently is one of two senior principals responsible for all operations of the Carey Self Storage Fund, including fund-raising, investing, and portfolio management. Prior to joining the Carey Self Storage Fund, she worked on an effort to start an investment business for W.P. Carey in Asia and also closed approximately $160 million in investment transactions domestically. Prior to HBS, she spent four years as an Associate in the Private Equity Group at Brown Brothers Harriman where she was responsible for sourcing, executing and monitoring investments for the 1818 Funds.

On a personal note, I met my husband while at Penn (he was a freshman and I was a senior). He is actually now a second year Wharton MBA student. Between the two of us, we will have four degrees from Penn once he graduates. We have a lot of loyalty to Penn and a desire to do what we can to help current students and alumni.
