Writing Program

Writing is an integral part of learning at any level. The College of Arts and Sciences requires you to demonstrate proficiency in writing as part of your arts and sciences education. You can fulfill the requirement by taking one Critical Writing seminar from those offered by departments such as English, folklore, anthropology, history, music, philosophy and art history. These courses are designed to teach you the writing and critical thinking skills necessary for college-level work. They feature discussion rather than lecture, while peer review, multiple drafts and revisions are emphasized rather than the submission of a single paper. In addition, the Writing Center offers students support for their writing projects.
